Ms. Kim Hauser

Kim Hauser is beginning her tenth year as Principal of Vestavia Hills Elementary West. She has served Vestavia Hills City Schools in the following capacities: Assistant Principal for eight years and as a classroom teacher for 10 years. Prior to Vestavia, Kim taught in Jefferson County and Dallas, Texas for a total of over 31 years of educational experience and leadership. 

Kim has a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama, and a MA and EdS in Instructional Leadership and Administration from Samford University. She has two sons, Jason and Wesley, both of whom attended Vestavia City Schools, kindergarten through 12th grade.

As principal, Kim's leadership promotes Vestavia West to create classroom environments in which active, engaging instruction takes place continuously! She strives for VHEW to foster the development of the "whole child" encompassing social and emotional growth as well as academic achievements. Her goal is to work with parents, teachers, and staff as part of a team to provide the best school experience for each and every child at West! 

Kim Hauser proudly attended a ceremony in Washington D.C. in November 2016 to receive The National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence recipient for Vestavia Hills Elementary West.  West was one of only 328 schools nationally to be awarded this honor.  Additionally, Vestavia Hills Elementary West was proud to be one of 47 schools in North American to be distinguished as A National School Of Character in the spring of 2021.
