Kira Aaron named among "final four" for Ala. Teacher of the Year prize
May 1, 2024 -- Vestavia Hills High School Freshman Campus English teacher Kira Aaron has been named one of four finalists for the Alabama Teacher of the Year award! Kira has been a longtime teacher in Vestavia Hills City Schools and was named the VHCS 2023-24 Secondary Teacher of the Year earlier this year.
The daughter of teachers, Kira Aaron always knew she wanted to enter the “family business.” She believes everyone is made to have rewarding personal relationships throughout life. She appreciates participating in great conversations regarding literature and the self-expression brought through the English Language Arts classroom. Aaron earned a Secondary English Language Arts degree from Auburn University, a Master of Science from Troy University, and an Education Specialist degree in Leadership from The University of Alabama. She earned National Board Certification and is currently a doctoral candidate.
The Alabama Teacher of the Year will be announced May 8 by the Alabama State Department of Education. The Teacher of the Year spends the school year serving as an official spokesperson for Alabama education and the teaching profession. Also, they represent our state for the National Teacher of the Year Award.
Please join us in congratulating Kira Aaron, Alabama Teacher of the Year Finalist!
