Helping your child start school healthy and ready to learn begins with meeting Alabama's immunization requirements.
Under Alabama law, all students attending public school must provide a current and valid Alabama Certificate of Immunization unless they qualify for an approved exemption. Students may complete registration and enrollment, but they may not attend school until immunization requirements are met or an approved exemption is on file.
Exemptions
Medical Exemption
Issued by your child's physician or medical specialist.
Religious Exemption
Issued by the Alabama Department of Public Health. Families should contact the Department of Public Health directly for information about this process.
Homeless Status (Federal Law)
