New coaches named for Vestavia Hills High School girls’ soccer, basketball teams
May 19, 2025 — The Vestavia Hills Board of Education selected new head coaches today for its high school girls’ soccer and basketball programs.
In a meeting this afternoon, the board appointed Alex Carroll as head coach of Vestavia Hills High School girls’ soccer and Crosby Morrison as head coach of girls’ basketball.
Alex Carroll, a 2014 graduate of VHHS and former Rebels soccer player, takes the helm of the girls’ soccer program after years of dedicated service as both an assistant coach and high school social studies teacher. A former collegiate goalkeeper at Wofford College, Carroll has been with VHHS since 2018.
“Alex knows this program inside and out,” incoming VHCS Athletic Director Laura Casey said today. “She’s played here, she’s coached here, and she has a powerful vision for where we’re going. Alex honors the tradition of Vestavia Hills soccer while bringing fresh leadership to the next chapter.”
Carroll succeeds longtime head coach Brigid Meadow, who announced her planned retirement from coaching prior to the 2024-25 school year and concluded her final season with a 7A girls’ state championship.
Joining the VHHS athletic family as head coach of girls’ basketball is Crosby Morrison, who comes to Vestavia Hills from Pelham High School. Morrison brings an impressive coaching résumé, including five consecutive playoff appearances and four area championships with the Panthers. She was named Shelby County Coach of the Year in 2022 and 2023, and was also selected as a coach in the 2023 AHSAA North-South All-Star Game.
“Crosby is competitive, experienced, and passionate about continuing to shape a program that excels on and off the court. Her pursuit of excellence and strong core values align perfectly with the values of VHHS and will, no doubt, elevate the student experience,” Casey said.
To welcome both coaches, Vestavia Hills Athletics will host a Meet and Greet this Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the VHHS Competition Gym. Students, parents, and community members are encouraged to attend as the school kicks off a new chapter in girls’ athletics.
